Since I've never run a 1-mile race, or trained for such a short event, I am at a loss trying to determine a reasonable race goal. I think 7:00 would be easy. 6:30 very hard. Maybe 6:45 is a good goal? According to my Stryd pod, my predicted finish time is 6:39. Garmin doesn't predict mile times. MacMillan Running predicts 6:46 (based on recent 5K race time). Looks like 6:45 is a good estimate. I'm pretty sure the world record is safe (3:43 for the mile).
A blog by a guy named Chris who writes about running. Usually trail running--often at the ultramarathon distance. See you on the trails.

My First 1-Mile Race!
Today, actually tonight, I run my first 1-mile race! It's on roads, not track. The run is part of the Illinois Marathon race series. I've done the marathon and half-marathon, but not the 5K, 10K, or 1-mile races. After this year, guess I should run the 5k and 10k to have experienced them all. They are on different days, so I could do both 5k and 10k next year! Hmmm...
