Spring is here! Spring is here! This morning when I woke up and it was 25 degrees, it didn't seem like spring. At least it was sunny. The high today is supposed to be around 50. Not too bad. I am sick of winter and ready for warmer, but not HOT, weather. Spring in Illinois usually means wet weather too. I hope it holds off through race day. Most of the local trails are a bit soft and muddy.
For now, here is the forecast for next weekend and the race:
March 27, Friday night: Low of 24, chance for snow flurries
March 28, Saturday: High of 45, cloudy, morning snow showers
Yesterday the forecast was for freezing rain! We still have 8 days, so don't trust the weather forecast. I plan on being on the Clinton Lake trail either tomorrow or Sunday...maybe both days. I'll post the trail conditions. The Clinton, IL weather gadget is on the top left of the blog. It displays the current conditions and you can click for the forecast.

Chris,
You do such a great job with the CL run - I am sure you will take care of the weather as well:) Whatever the day brings will be fun! Looking forward to seeing you again.
Thanks for the positive comments. The weather will take care of itself. I would LOVE to have a nice day (no wind, partly sunny, cool temps) for both the runners and the volunteers. It sucks for the volunteers to be out in the cold and wind for 8 hours. At least the runners get to run to stay warm. I'm always amazed how upbeat the vols can be in bad conditions (runners too). Everyone seems to take it in stride.
I was out on the course yesterday and it was in great shape. There was only one muddy section and it did not last long. The course is very runnable and significantly less rutty than it was about a month ago. There were a lot of leaves on the trail over the first 2 or 3 miles so there were a few spots were the trail was difficult to navigate, but it was still not that bad. 1 week to go! Can't wait!
Just ran the trail today (Sat). It's in GREAT shape. Lots of leaves on parts of the trail, but very little mud. We'll remark some of the white flashes on the trees so it should be easier to follow the trail next week. -Chris
